------------------------------- - - - Cult of Personality MOD - - - - Version 1.005 - - - ------------------------------- I. INTRODUCTION The Cult of Personality perk represents one of the many unfinished aspects of Fallout 2. Though the perk is selectable from the perk list if you have 10 Charisma and have reached Level 12 or higher, the perk does not have any effect in the game, even with the most recent official Fallout 2 patch. This MOD will add functionality to this perk to closer fit its description in the Fallout 2 manual and Character Screen. Your character will still need to achieve Level 12 with 10 Charisma to be able to select Cult of Personality. II. REQUIREMENTS To make this MOD work, you will need: 1. The Us patched version of Fallout 2 (version 1.02d). If you do not have the official Fallout 2 patch, you may download it at: http://www.nma-fallout.com (No Mutants Allowed) To access this file, click on "Downloads", then "Fallout 2 Downloads". 2. The 'MOD Runner' program by DIMS. You may also download this at No Mutants Allowed. To access this file, click on "Downloads", then "Fallout 2 Downloads", then "MOD Utils". Be sure to install the MOD Runner in the same directory that you installed Fallout 2. III. USING THE MOD 1. Unzip the cp1005.dat file into the same directory that you installed Fallout 2. 2. Run 'MOD Runner'. 3. Select the 'cp1005.dat' MOD. 4. Click on 'Run game' and enjoy! IV. UPDATES Version 1.005 If the player has Cult of Personality, then: 1. More quests from good NPCs are now available to the evil player, and a few quests originally exclusively offered to evil players are available to the good player. 2. NPC's with talking heads no longer glare at an evil player unless (s)he says something offensive. 3. Merchants/Caravans in random encounters will ALWAYS trade with the player. 4. Initial reaction from most NPCs toward the player is positive. ("Everybody likes your character!") 5. More NPCs will only say nice things to the player, even if (s)he is evil and/or stupid. 6. The player can marry both Miria and Davin, but without Cult of Personality, the player can only marry one of them. These updates are effective regardless of the Cult of Personality Perk: 7. T-Ray now regenerates new batteries every 1-2 weeks. 8. Eldridge now gives permanent discounts for being "a friend of Jules", being a Made Man, or defeating the Enclave. 9. Bartenders also offer permanent discounts for being a Porn Star, Made Man, or Prizefighter or defeating the Enclave. 10. The Skynet robot will offer the player its goods at almost no cost when Bartering with it. 11. More betting options have been added to all gambling tables. The maximum bet is now $1000. 12. It is now possible to gain the Idolized town reputation in Modoc, Ghost Farm, and Redding. 13. The tanker bartender will now speak with the player after 8:00 AM or before 2:00 AM each day, as was originally intended by the game developers. Version 1.004 1. With Cult of Personality, Potential party members will ignore charisma, karma, and karmic titles when deciding whether or not to speak to you or to join your party. 2. Some, but not (yet) all, of the quests that good-natured NPC's normally exclusively offer good characters are now available to an evil character with the Cult of Personality perk. 3. It is now possible to have TWO spouses at the same time. 4. The end game 'Discount' and 'Upgrade' features for Eldridge are now working properly. V. BUGS Version 1.005 1. When a player first mentions Jules or first mentions being a Made Man, Eldridge will not immediately give the discount and may sometimes appear to hike up the price. However, if the player exits the dialog screen with Eldridge and speaks to him again, Eldridge will from then on charge the proper amount when the player barters with him. 2. The tanker bartender never has any stock. Version 1.004 1. K-9 will sometimes not obey the 'Push' command. 2. K-9 will start calling you 'Master' if you speak to it as soon as you kill its captor. Still, it will not follow you around or fight for you until you install a certain item into it. 3. If you marry two spouses, but later on lose one spouse but not both, you will still get the 'Separated' karmic title. VI. COMPATIBILITY This MOD is only compatible with the latest OFFICIAL US Interplay patch, 1.02d. Running this MOD concurrently with other MODs or patches other than pure weapons MODs may cause abnormal behaviors. The updates described above only briefly summarize the new effects of Cult of Personality. To discover specific effects of this perk on player-NPC interactions, talk with every NPC you meet after the Cult of Personality perk is chosen, even NPCs that have spoken to the player before obtaining the perk. Have fun! VII.
